The University of Hawai'i Transitional Residency Program's major sponsors are the University of Hawai'i Internal Medicine Residency Program and the University of Hawai'i Surgical Residency Program,

UHTRP is directed by the Transitional Institutional Coordination Committee, which consists of the Program Directors of the sponsoring programs, a Transitional Resident representative, the HRP executive director, the coordinator of emergency medicine as well as members-at-large from medicine, ophthalmology and surgery.  The Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and administered by the University of Hawai'i Department of Medicine.
