Stephanie Nishimura, M.S.W.

Stephanie Nishimura, M.S.W. is an Instructor for the Department of Psychiatry, John A. Burns School of Medicine and serves as the Principal Investigator for a pilot study entitled, Psychosociocultural Risk and Protective Factors for Substance Use Among Youth in Hawaii; Assistant Director of Evaluation for the Asian/Pacific Islander Youth Violence Prevention Center; Program Manager for the Hawaii Student Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Use Study; and Program Manager for the Collaborative Alcohol Research Development and Planning grant.

She has over 25 peer-reviewed publications on ethnically diverse adolescents and substance use, self-esteem, and anxiety. Her research areas of interest include adolescent substance use and risk and protective factors associated with substance use and violence.
