Is the food any good?

The food in Hawaii is so good that one rabbi was rumored to have declared kalua pig to be kosher when he attended a luau. The reason locals have such a hard time moving away from Hawaii is not the weather – it’s the food. The mixture of cultures brings the best of everything. Try Roy’s near the hotel. It is not the original Roy’s in Honolulu, but the range of fresh ingredients and the island know-how make it an experience that is not duplicated by the Roy’s that have sprouted in other states, good as they are. Or try Kirin, the beautiful Chinese restaurant at the Hilton. It may be the best Chinese restaurant in Hawaii, and Hawaii’s Chinese restaurants are a different world from the ones in the rest of the USA, except maybe a very few in New York.
