| EMAIL UPDATE #7 Less than 3 months to go before the start of the Congress! The presentations are being organized, and the final program should be available on our website within 2 weeks. Each day will include plenary sessions, symposia, and a debate in the morning. Afternoon sessions will include workshops, theme sessions, and special lectures. On two days, there will be late afternoon poster sessions. Abstracts are already available for viewing on the website. Please note that each topic category listed is likely to involve many more relevant presentations than are noted, due to the fact that each abstract is listed under only one topic category. We are developing a keyword search capability that will allow one to find all relevant abstracts. We recently site-visited the Hilton Waikoloa Village Hotel. The conference facilities are the most beautiful and comfortable of any I have experienced around the world. The hotel is well-maintained and occupancy rates are up from last year. This "Gold Coast" area of the Big Island is prospering in contrast to many tourist areas in the United States. We are fortunate to have locked in the $199 room rate three years ago. Once again, we strongly recommend staying at the Hilton, a unique resort that will provide wonderful lifetime memories. And one free luau banquet ticket comes with a stay of 4 or more nights. Be sure to indicate on your registration form if you want this free ticket. If you already registered, but failed to so indicate, and it turns out you do want it, just let us know. This banquet will be very unique and I highly recommend attending if at all possible. We have been informed that transportation from the airport to the hotel can be much less expensive than we stated in our brochure. Shuttle vans cost about $15, as long there are at least 2 persons taking the van. The vans can meet your plane, and they take 25 minutes to get to the Hilton. Advance reservations are needed; however, we should soon have a link on our website allowing this to be done online. More information about this will be forthcoming. The hotel has fabulous swimming pools with waterfalls and slides, a sandy lagoon, and a beautiful ocean beach for long walks. It is a short walk to the left for the best swimming beach. But to really do it right, go to nearby Hapuna beach, which has been rated #1 in the world by "Dr. Beach". It is a gorgeous 15-minute drive, and American Express at the Hilton can provide a shuttle for a small fee if you don't have a car. Just sign up for the shuttle that day, or best, the day before. TIP: Ask the local staff about their favorite spots. There are many, and you won't find crowds anywhere. Golf packages that include deluxe room, registration, tournaments, and prizes are still available through Physicians Golf Association Worldwide. Check out www.docgolf.com. The old email updates have been posted on our website. Check them for other tips. And don't hesitate to email us with questions. See you soon in paradise!
