Hawaii Residency Programs, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation, was established in 1982.  Its logo uniquely communicates:

In ancient Hawai‘i, kukui nuts were burned to provide a guiding light and to measure time. Various parts of the plant were used medicinally to treat ailments, while the nut provided a source of nourishment. It portrays a symbol of knowledge, guidance and enlightenment.

 This graphic symbolizes the excellent educational programs and supportive learning environment residents receive. The overall concept encompasses what the program hopes to instill in its residents: medical knowledge, enlightenment and cultural values.
